How To Not Be Boring This Weekend

The public holidays of April are a distant memory and we are deep into May. Life seems pretty average with the onset of autumn and all you’re going to do is curl up on the couch this weekend, right? Wrong. Because that sounds boring and you’re better than that. So, here’s our round up of the events you can’t miss over the next couple of days.

CAPE TOWN

24-28 May: Kamers/Makers

It’s the best of South African design, food and wine, and it’s coming back to Cape Town. Get ready for some serious retail therapy. All the shopping will leave you in need of a little pampering, and Utopia has just that.

28 May: Super Hero Charity Dash

No super powers needed. All you’ve got to do is dress up as your favourite hero, take on a 5km run/walk and deliver a gift halfway through. You’ll be hungry afterwards – book at Manga for an Asian-inspired feast.

JOHANNESBURG

24-28 May: Soweto Fashion Week

We’re obsessed with the fresh talent that’s emerging in SA, and Soweto Fashion Week showcases the cream of the crop. While you’re in the area, why not take a swing off the Orlando Towers?

25-27 May: The Wine Show

Wine lovers unite – the Johannesburg Wine Show is a display of South Africa’s best wines, and you best believe you’ll want to try them ALL. Thank goodness The Raj is a few steps away… perfect for lining your stomach 🙂

DURBAN

26 – 28 May: Surf, SUP and Yoga Retreat

Swap the concrete jungle for some quality time by the ocean. The retreat includes accommodation just 50m from the waves, vegetarian brekkie each morning and all the surfing, SUPing and yoga you could want. Stop by La Vita Spa on your way home for a massage to polish off your weekend.

28 May: The Morning Trade Market

From fresh veggies to top-notch coffee, this artisan market has everything you need for a relaxed Sunday in Durbs. Make a day of it and take the kids to the newly refurbished Durban Ice Arena afterwards.

So there you have it. Shake off the boring and live your best life this weekend – and don’t forget to tag us in your adventures.
