How To Escape A Locked Room (With HintHunt SA)

Have you ever wondered if you’d be able to escape from a locked room using only your brain and a hint every now and then? At HintHunt SA, you’re given 60 minutes to escape four walls by finding clues and completing tasks while working as a team. It sounds fairly easy, right? WRONG. Let me explain.

The Johannesburg & Pretoria team decided to take on the Zen Room at HintHunt SA – they’re new on the ENTERTAINER, so why not? The Zen Room is the most difficult one they have, with the lowest success rate. So even though we were determined to beat those odds, expectations weren’t very high! It was intense, a little warm (from running around), but super fun.

If you’re planning on taking on the HintHunt SA challenge (which I highly recommend you do at least once in your life), then you might want to keep these four things in mind:

1. Be Time-Conscious

As I mentioned, you get 60 minutes. Which is really not a lot of time in the moment. So make sure you keep an eye on it as you go!

2. But Take Your Time

Having said that, definitely do not rush. This may seem a little contradictory, but rushing leads to mistakes and missed clues. Take a deep breath, be thorough when looking through the room, and take that extra second to make sure things are done properly.

3. Communicate

Because there’s a lot to do in an hour (you’ll see when you’re in there), communication among your team is key. You don’t want to begin a task that someone else has already completed, so keep everyone in the loop.

4. Have Fun

More importantly, remember to enjoy yourself. I cannot tell you how much fun we actually had because we stopped taking ourselves seriously!

Oh, and if you’re wondering how we did, we made it out with a few minutes to spare! BOOYEAH ? Check out the video to witness the stress, laughs, and the winning moment.
