2016 is almost over. But there are still a few more weeks left to make the most of this year’s Entertainer! We’ve rounded up 11 ways you can use your 2016 app to save a little bit more this festive season. Because no one wants to break the bank just before Christmas.
1. Stock up on treats for your house guests
If you’re based in Cape Town and plan to spend your holiday at home, you WILL have house guests over the festive season. It’s just what happens when you live in the most beautiful city in the world. Keep ’em happy (and caffeinated) by stocking up on beans or capsules from mischu. Plus, hit up Byblos for their trays of take-home Lebanese baklava.
2. Get a pedi with your bestie
The holidays can be a little crazy. Take some time off to treat someone special in your life with a 2-for-1 pedicure at one of our beautiful salons or spas. (Hello Gorgeous, Carla Brown, Adore Day Spa… I can go all day. Just search “pedicure” in your app!). Because winter feet ain’t got no place on Clifton 4th.
3. Head inside for a beer tasting
EVERYONE goes wine tasting in December. And obviously you should too. But sometime’s it’s nice to take a break from the heat and the crowds and head indoors for something a little different. Why not gather your friends and family for a beer tasting at Stellenbrau, Devil’s Peak Brewing Co. or The Mash Tun?
JOHANNESBURG & PRETORIA
4. Get your nails done for the holidays
Pamper yourself and spend that well deserved time off by getting a festive mani. Don’t forget to take a friend or a special family member along to help finish up those beauty offers! Why not try Urban Escape, YouBar or Adhara Boutique?
5. See some more of Jozi’s outdoors
If you think that being in Jozi over Christmas means that you have to be indoors, you’re wrong. Enjoy the outdoors at Croc City, Acrobranch or The Johannesburg Zoo.
6. Have some drinks to kick off the festive season
Whether it’s drinks after work, a boozy brunch, or just some festive cheer, celebrate December with 86 Public, Steamworks or Riff’s Bar and Grill.
7. Learn to surf
Being in Durbs doesn’t mean that you have to be a pro surfer. Learn the basics at Secret Spot Surf Camp, Ocean Ventures or Surf Boyz.
8. Spend some time working on your swing
A tee box with a view of the ocean? That sounds like a great way to spend a couple of hours. Visit Princes Grant, Umhlali Country Club or Scottburgh Golf Club.
9. Eat, eat and eat
Isn’t that exactly what the holidays are for?! Have a snack at the Lighthouse Cafe or head over to Durban North to visit The Coop, El Toro or Pizza Boyz.
10. Store your stuff and make some cash
Thinking of renting your place out for the holidays? Check out Spacebox – they’ll collect your treasured trinkets and store them safely for as long as you need.
11. Escape the crowds for a weekend getaway
Tourists, well-meaning relatives, and hordes of school kids on holiday… all the ingredients you need for a nervous breakdown. Good thing More Africa is packed with local accommodation options for a sneaky break: why not try Evergreen Manor or Fairmont Zimbali Resort?
