5 Visa-Free Countries South Africans Can Visit

My New Year’s Resolution this year was to travel more. Especially after following these South African travel Instagramers. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. It seems that planning a trip takes longer than the trip itself! Ok, not really, but it feels like it. Particularly after researching various visa applications and requirements. So I made it my mission to look find a list of countries I can visit, as a South African passport holder, without a visa. Visa-free means less paperwork, less worry, and more last-minute adventures!

If you’re in the same boat and have decided that visa-free is the way to go, then check out these 5 countries South Africans can visit without one:

THAILAND

Whether you want to visit Bangkok or Phuket, Thailand is pretty much smooth sailing if you want to book a last-minute vacay. You can be there for up to 30 days (with a max of two trips if not arriving by air). All you need to show is that you have actually booked return flights, where you’ll be staying (like Banyan Tree in Phuket and many other Getaways options), and that you have enough money to fund your trip while you’re there.

IRELAND

Wander through time in Dublin’s lush landscapes, idyllic towns, and rich history without the hassle of applying for a visitor’s visa. You can basically go anywhere in Ireland, not just Dublin. So be sure to have a look at all the fab discounts that ENTERTAINER Getaways has to offer for hotels across the country.

BAHAMAS

If you like Piña Coladas, and getting caught in the rain, then the Bahamas is calling your name. Ok, maybe not the rain part. But def the fruity cocktails part. The perfect island getaway is really only a few clicks away, mainly because you don’t need to worry about a visa, and because there are some great hotels on Getaways.

RUSSIA

You can get around like a local by taking the Moscow Metro, learn about the architecture and history of places like St Basil’s Cathedral (which looks exactly like something out of a fairy tale), or take a shot of vodka to warm you up at Russia’s famous ice bar in St Petersburg. All without a visa, and all on ENTERTAINER Getaways!

MAURITIUS

A hop, skip, and a jump away, this visa-free island holiday is close to SA, so you don’t have to travel too far. According to locals, the best time to visit Mauritius is between April and June, and between September and December, so keep that in mind when you’re booking those flights and resorts.

There are so many more visa-free countries South Africans can visit, so make a list and start planning those adventures.

And remember to book through ENTERTAINER Getaways, which offers up to 40% off accommodation across thousands of hotels worldwide. Your bank account will thank you for it ? It’ll also thank you if you WIN your dream holiday. All you have to do is upload a photo of your very own fake-cation. Simple, right? Click here for more info.
