5 Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants In Johannesburg

Dear vegetarians, I promise we haven’t forgotten about you in our foodie journey across Gauteng. And I know how hard it is to find vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Johannesburg and Pretoria these days. So, I’m here to dedicate an entire post to YOU, and show you that there are actually dishes that are completely meat-free at quite a few spots. Plus they’re are all on the ENTERTAINER, which means you can buy one meal and get the other completely free if you use the App!

THE GOOD LUCK CLUB | Illovo

I honestly have a stir-fry, noodle, or dim sum craving at least once a week, and I know I’m not the only one out there. If this rings a bell, then The Good Luck Club is right up your alley. I’d recommend the Spicy Spinach Tofu with Mushrooms (it’s nice and hawt, if you’re into spicy things), or the Bokchoy Noodles with Mixed Garlic Mushrooms. They do have a few other vegetarian options dotted throughout the menu, so just have a look.

GORGE | Kramerville

There are way more vegetarian than there are meat options on this menu. If I were to list them all then it would be a looong post, and no one wants to read that! So, instead, I’ll just mention that their Veggie Bowl, Cashew Butter Open Toast, and Avo Open Toast are all heavenly (and if you’re addicted to avos, then find out what your fave avo order says about you). Gorge really prides themselves on being one of the top health-focused and vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Johannesburg, and they have a few vegan dishes too. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t checked them out already.

HUDSONS | Parkhurst, Bedfordview, & Hazelwood

Burgers make the world go round. It’s a fact. So I’ve managed to track down a veggie burger at one of the best burger joints in Jozi! It’s called The Stomper, and it has a falafel patty, jalapeños, beetroot, yoghurt, and Sriracha… basically all the good things in life. It looks flipping good, too ?

PIZA E VINO | OMG so many locations on the App

There are SO many vegetarian options at Piza e Vino. Again, we’d be here all day if I had to mention every single one. So please just trust me that you’re sure to find something that you like. I do have a secret to tell you though, that not a lot of people know about… they actually have a vegan pizza on the menu. It’s called the Rosso, and there’s absolutely no meat, AND no cheese on it. #Winning

CAPE TOWN FISH MARKET | Moreleta Park

I’m sure you already know that vegetarian sushi exists, so let this act as a little reminder that you can actually save on some of your fave sushi if you use your App at CTFM. Munch on the classic Bean Curd Ngiri, Vegetarian Ginger Inside-Out Rolls, or even Tempura-Fried Chilli Poppers (which aren’t actually sushi, but they’re amazing and deserve to be mentioned nonetheless).

And there you have it – vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Johannesburg and Pretoria, for every food mood that you might be in.

What are some of your fave vegetarian dishes or spots that I haven’t mentioned? I’d love to know, so sound off in the comments below!
